Every year, right around this time, the life of a Dog Runner begins to drastically change (at least for our Northern Hemisphere Runners!). Tomorrow, March 20th, is the Spring Equinox, both signaling the end of a long rainy Winter, and also the only day of the year where we have 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of dark.
Today, on this last day of Winter, I had the pleasure of running one of my favorite dogs--Murray! Murray is a gigantic, all white, Labradoodle. He has an exciteable attitude about everything, especially going for his daily run! Murray happens to live right near one of the most fantastic places in the city of Seattle to go for a run--the Washington Park Arboretum. The Arboretum is several hundred acres of trails, gardens, docks, and boardwalks over Lake Washington. It is not unusual to see ducks, geese, eagles, beavers, and all sorts of other wildlife scattered throughout this urban park. Unfortunately from early Fall until late Winter, this running mecca becomes one big muddy mess! And Murray and Mud do not mix!
So, among many other things I'm looking forward to as we turn the page on this past Winter, is drier, lighter, and less muddy days ahead! What are you looking forward to?
